You can look forward to at least two or three “field trips” or site visits during your Permaculture Design Course with us. For our urban and suburban courses we typically visit at least residential example of permaculture design/techniques and at least one community or public project (like a food forest or other non-residential space). Field trip sites vary based on you course location and host site availability.
Field trips allow you to see the variety of expressions that permaculture design thinking and doing can take since no two permaculture sites are the same. A common thread running through all the field trips could be a discussion of goals, understanding which strategies were chosen and why, looking at specific techniques like plantings, waste management (rainwater, composting, greywater, etc.), building and energy components, and more. Our field trip hosts are quite open and honest about where they are in their own learning and implementation journey!
